Kerala

Kerala gives shelter to a richly blended culture. The state serves different religions, communities, languages, and even regional cultures. Kerala is a dreamland because of its desirable geographical location i.e. between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, its rain forests, its well-established trade relations with foreign lands, agricultural heritage, mouth-watering cuisines, a high command of literature & science, and its traditional arts.

The land which has deep roots of art in it is well known for its variety and quality of handloom fabrics. The textiles of Kerala are mainly sourced from pure cotton, jute, coir (made of coconut fiber), Sisal & palm fibers. The popular textile products are Kuthampully sarees, Balaramapuram sarees, Kannur shirtings & furnishings, terry/ Turkish carpets & towelings, and Alappuzha Coir mats. These are highly valued traditional assets of this state.

The state has deep sentiments for its traditions, so instead of automatic looms, the textile industry is dependent on handlooms. The weavers of this state, run many cooperative handloom societies within the boundaries of Kerala.

Weddings in Kerala are incomplete without the rich traditional touch of Kasavu sarees and Mundus. The gold zari borders and the glamorous pallus are everything to die for.
