When it comes to textile designing, the state is known for its varied range of patterning through printing techniques, like the tie and dye technique used in Bandhani sarees, hand-block printing with natural colors, and Batik printings. Maheshwari cotton & silk clothes as well as Chanderi, are the weaving specialties of the state.
There are more than 55 mills in the state and are producing exports worth 32 million US dollars per anum. Burhanpur, Chhindwara, Indore, and Jabalpur are major textile hubs of the state. There are more than 47 thousand handlooms and 43 thousand power looms in these cities if counted together.
