Maharashtra

One of the most industrialized states of India, Maharashtra is considered to be the powerhouse of the nation’s economy. The Bollywood city Mumbai is the Commercial and Financial capital of the country. After independence, Mumbai became the center of the textile trade. Because the city is the apex market of India, all types of cloth are manufactured as well traded in the city. Mumbai trades with buyers from all across the nation and from the neighboring foreign lands too.

Maharashtra’s textile industry is the single largest employer in the country. It is accountable for 27% of the country’s total exports. 25% of the country’s total cotton production is carried out by Maharashtra, which is almost 65 million Kgs of cotton. 10.4% of the country’s textile and apparel output remains in the hands of this state. India’s 12% of total cotton yarn production is carried out in this state, i.e. nearly 272 million kgs of cotton yarns. The statistics of achievements still go on. Maharashtra has an installed capacity of 1.66 million spindles. This capacity is 17% of the country’s total capacity.

To maintain its supreme position on the leaderboard of textile production and exports, the state is setting up textile parks. These parks aim to offer world-class infrastructure components and enhancement of productivity in the textile sector.

Marathas have a great hold on the victorious historic tales of the country. The culturally rich state has a varied range of textiles with distinctive designs that are fabricated through many different techniques. Maharashtra is situated in the Central-West of the country, so the development of textile in this region is primarily done from cotton and silk to suit the climatic conditions.
