A plethora of history, cultural heritage, and religious beauty resides in the lands of Tamil Nadu. As per some historic tales, the people of this state are related to the prestigious Dravidian Family. The climate of Tamil Nadu is very hot and humid, so the clothing of this state is chosen according to it, i.e. comfortable and breathable. Some of the famous textiles of Tamil Nadu are:
- Kanchipuram Saree: Also known as the Kanjeevaram saree is fabricated as an offering to the Goddess.
- Sungadi Saree: These are beautiful block-printed sarees produced in Madurai.
- Coimbatori Saree: The fabrication of this saree uses cotton or silk and sometimes even zari. The silk used is not usually of high quality, resulting in it being an inexpensive fabric.
- Salem Saree: Art silk is used to make this saree. The border of this saree is thicker than the body.

Tamil Nadu’s textile industry provides massive employment within the boundaries of the state. It is also the forerunner of Industrial Development. This industry here is mostly dominated by spinning. Tamil Nadu’s textile industry has a significant representation in the country’s economy as well. There are 18 Cooperative Spinning Mills, 17 National Textile Corporation Mills, and 23 Composite Mills situated in this state. The spinning capacity of this state is 14.75 million spindles.
